REFRESH CONTROLLER IN SEMICONDUCTOR MEMORY DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING REFRESH BY USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A refresh control device of a semiconductor memory device and a refresh control method using the same are provided to reduce power consumption by decreasing an unnecessary refresh operation at low temperatures. CONSTITUTION: A voltage controlled oscillator(11) varies a frequency of a base clock according to an analog voltage outputted from a temperature sensor. A nonvolatile memory(12) outputs a signal for trimming the voltage controlled oscillator and a refresh cycle trimming signal. A refresh cycle control unit(13) outputs the base clock as a refresh clock with the frequency of the finial target. An address counter(14) generates a corresponding refresh address signal by receiving the refresh clock. A memory unit(15) performs a refresh operation for data retention.
