POSTING LIST COMPRESSION AND RANKING METHOD FOR EFFICIENT SEARCHING A PERSON ON VIDEOS

PURPOSE: A posting list compressing and ranking method for efficiently searching a person in a video is provided to efficiently express automatic index information of characters in a video in a posting list, thereby minimizing the amount of information. CONSTITUTION: Consecutive frames in which characters appear are expressed in one interval when indexes for searching a character based on a frame in which characters appear and a frame using similarity of recognizing characters are configured(S2). The frame is expressed by a start frame number and the size of an interval using a difference of a posting list. The size of the posting list is reduced. When consecutive frames in which characters appear are compressed, two frame which are not consecutive are merged(S6).
