PURPOSE: An electrolyte is provided to have chemical stability and improved magnesium ion dissociation, and to provide a magnesium battery with chemical stability, and improved reversibility. CONSTITUTION: An electrolyte comprises a magnesium salt, non-aqueous organic solvent, and anion acceptor. The anion acceptor comprises one or more kinds selected from a group consisting of compounds in chemical formula 1 and chemical formula 2. A magnesium battery comprises a positive electrode comprising a positive electrode active material charging/discharging magnesium ion, a negative electrode charging/discharging magnesium ion, and the electrolyte impregnated to between the positive electrode and the negative electrode.
