FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of composite material based on silicon carbide and composite oxide binder, capable of operating in aggressive media, as well as in conditions with impact-dynamic loads, specifically as material for friction pairs and protective armour articles. The solution-based method of producing silicon carbide mixture with an oxide sintering activator, involving deposition onto the surface of silicon carbide particles -SiC of a sintering activator containing 3.7 wt % magnesium oxide MgO, 24.7 wt % yttrium oxide Y2O3 and 71.6 wt % aluminium oxide Al2O3. Deposition is carried out on -SiC particles dispersed in aqueous solutions of nitrates of magnesium, yttrium and aluminium, by depositing Mg2+ ions onto 1/3 part of -SiC, taken in form of a suspension in aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide NaOH, and a mixture of Y3+ and Al3+ ions on 2/3 part of -SiC, taken in form of a suspension in aqueous solution of ammonium hydroxide NH4OH, wherein deposition of said ions is carried out in form of hydroxides with subsequent thermal decomposition thereof to oxide forms at T=400-700C, and by mixing, a mixture is obtained which contains 0.24-0.55 wt % MgO, 2.50-3.71 wt % Y2O3, 7.20-10.76 wt % Al2O3 and -SiC - the balance. ^ EFFECT: high strength, density and hardness of articles with low porosity thereof. ^ 2 cl, 2 ex, 1 tbl, 2 dwg |
