ELECTRIC DISCHARGE MACHINE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME

PURPOSE: An EDM(Electric Discharge Machine) and a controlling method thereof are provided to control a distance by analyzing a correlation between the distance and a signal size by using an amplitude change of signals, thereby multiplying the processing accuracy of an EDM. CONSTITUTION: A EDM machining using a discharge effect between a specimen surface and an electrode comprises a signal generator(201), a signal analyzer(202), and a distance calculating engine(203). The signal generator generates signals being input to an electrode. The signal analyzer measures signals being transmitted to a specimen surface. The distance calculating engine calculates a distance between the electrode and the specimen surface by using the signals measured by the signal analyzer.
