ADAPTIVE SCAN APPARATUS AND METHOD THEREFOR

PURPOSE: An adaptive scan device and a scan method thereof are provided to use a scan pattern which is adaptively updated according to probability distribution of quantized remaining data. CONSTITUTION: A zero coefficient counter(362) generates a zero counter corresponding to a prediction mode of an encoded adjacent block when the zero coefficient counter performs intra prediction encoding by a frame or slice unit. When a coefficient value of a current block about converted and quantized data is 0, the zero coefficient counter updates the zero counter according to a corresponding location. A scan pattern updater(364) successively arranges the zero counter from a small value to a large value. The scan pattern updater updates a scan pattern.
