PURPOSE: A backlight unit is provided to use a light source receiving unit in which a light source can be embedded in a printed circuit board with a light source of an LED of an edge type backlight unit, thereby obtaining superior optical features. CONSTITUTION: An optical plate(130) comprises one side and the other side facing the one side. The optical plate guides light. A light source receiving unit(140) is formed on one edge of the optical plate. A light source(120) is mounted on a printed circuit board(110). The light source is inserted into the light source receiving unit. At least some of the one side, the other side, the light source, and the printed circuit board are overlapped each other.
