<p>Conventional shoe press belts may suffer from some degree of groove closure as the belt matrix material deflects under the nip load, causing it to prevent the venting / dewatering, which is crucial to the belt's performance. The present invention provides an improved shoe press belt (1) having formed on an outer surface a plurality of parallel machine direction grooves (3). Each groove (3) has formed therein a plurality of conical rebates (2). The rebates(2) are spaced along each groove (3) with centers coincident with the groove (3) center line. The positions of the rebates (2) are stepped diagonally across adjacent parallel grooves (3).</p> |
