PURPOSE: A method for manipulating a multimedia device using a remote control device and a multimedia device thereof are provided to conveniently control the multimedia device using a posture of the remote control device or a location of a cursor. CONSTITUTION: A user interface unit(150) transmits and receives data with a remote control device. The data includes posture information and a key input signal of the remote control device. A recognizing unit(1701) recognizes the posture information of the remote control device to recognize a posture of the remote control device. A storage unit(140) stores operation mode setup information of a multimedia device. A control unit(170) loads operation mode setup information corresponding to the recognized posture from the storage unit. The control unit performs an operation corresponding to the key input signal.
