PURPOSE: A display device, a remote controller, and a control method thereof are provided to select a first area or a second area of a screen to be controlled by a remote controller according to a direction of the remote controller. CONSTITUTION: A display unit(136) displays a first image on a first area of a screen. The display unit displays a second image on a second area. A controller(150) receives direction information of a remote controller from the remote controller. The controller selects an area to be controlled by the remote controller between the first area and the second area according to the direction of the remote controller. The controller selects an area to be controlled by the remote controller between the first area and the second area according to whether the direction of a long axis of the remote controller is included in a vertical range of yz plane.
