IMAGE FORMING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the difference in density between image density on a direct transfer medium and image density on an indirect transfer medium from occurring.

SOLUTION: An image forming device forming a color image by combining a direct transfer method and an indirect transfer method performs the following steps of: detecting density of an image primarily transferred on an indirect transfer belt 6 by a first density detection sensor 12; secondarily transferring the image primarily transferred on the indirect transfer belt 6 to a direct transfer belt 9; detecting density of the image secondarily transferred by a second density detection sensor 15; detecting image density of a residual image after the image is secondarily transferred from the indirect transfer belt 6 to the direct transfer belt 9 by the first density detection sensor 12; correcting detection outputs of first and second density detection sensors 12 and 15 based on the density detection results; and controlling the image density of the image formed on a direct transfer belt 9 side and the image density of the image formed on an indirect transfer belt 6 side to be equal.
