The device (2) has adjusting elements aligned to a chain-shaped mold (24), which runs parallel to an adjusting path (19). The adjusting elements are made of electrically controlled electroactive polymer i.e. sulfonated tetrafluoroethylene polymer e.g. Nafion(RTM: sulfonated tetrafluoroethylene), where shape of the adjusting elements depends on shape of the electroactive polymer. The adjusting elements cooperate such that a sun protection curtain (4) is moved along the adjusting path depending on the voltage applied to the adjusting elements, whose movement is limited. An independent claim is also included for a method for driving a sun protection curtain of an electrical darkening device.
