PURPOSE: A digital video recorder is provided to enable a user to confirm images in a remote site without changing the establishment of an internet sharing unit. CONSTITUTION: A user establishes a basic network of a DVR(Digital Video Recorder). The user registers ID(Identity) in a relay server. In case the DVR is connected through an internet sharing unit, the DVR automatically executes port forwarding function by using UPnP(Universal Plug and Play) technology. The DVR maintains information at an external access port. The DVR transmits IP(Internet Protocol), MAC(Medium Access Control) address, and the ID, and the external access port nu connecting to the relay server.
