<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitor system which automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen of a liquid crystal monitor in accordance with ambient brightness, in the monitor system for a railway vehicle etc. <P>SOLUTION: A light quantity sensor is mounted to the liquid crystal monitor to refer to a function table registered in advance. This enables automatic adjustment of the luminance of the back light of the liquid crystal monitor adapted to the environment, in accordance with change in external brightness.
