Provided are an optical connector capable of being easily assembled and a method for assembling an optical connector. An optical connector (1) is provided with: a ferrule member (6) including a ferrule (14) for holding an incorporated fiber (13); a sleeve (7) for holding the ferrule member (6); and a rear housing (9) to which the sleeve (7) is connected and into which an optical fiber core (3) to which the incorporated fiber (13) is connected is introduced. The ferrule member (6) is affixed to the sleeve (7) by engaging the male screw thread (16) of the ferrule member (6) with the female screw thread (23) of the sleeve (7).
