PURPOSE: An exhaust gas heat recovery device and an absorption refrigerator are provided to improve heat exchange efficiency with exhaust gas by employing a return pipe that connects the top of the header, the high-temperature regenerator, or the condenser of an exhaust gas heat recovery device to return gas remaining in the header into the high-temperature regenerator or condenser. CONSTITUTION: An absorption refrigerator includes a high-temperature regenerator(5), a low-temperature regenerator, an evaporator, a condenser, and an absorber that are connected through pipes to form circulation paths for absorption liquid and refrigerant. An exhaust gas heat recovery device(40) is installed in the exhaust path of exhaust gas discharged from the combustion chamber of the high-temperature regenerator and heats the absorption liquid flowing from the absorber to the high-temperature regenerator with the exhaust gas. The exhaust gas heat recovery device comprises a plurality of heat transfer pipes arranged to cross the flow direction of the exhaust gas in the exhaust path and a header installed on an end of the heat transfer pipes. A return pipe(49) connects the top of the header to the high-temperature regenerator or condenser to return gas remaining in the header to the high-temperature regenerator gas or condenser.
