PURPOSE: A method for adaptively controlling an air purifier is provided to maximally derive the functional efficiency of the air purifier and to reduce the inconvenience of users. CONSTITUTION: A method for adaptively controlling an air purifier includes the following: illuminance around an air purifier is measured to set sensitivity according to the range of the illuminance(100); noise values around the air purifier are measured to set the maximum fan revolution per minute(RPM) according to the range of the noise values(200); pollution degrees are verified based on the set sensitivity; and the air purifier is operated at an RPM which is lower than or equal to the set maximum fan RPM(300).
