<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polymer electrolyte type fuel battery so arranged that the wettability can be kept high by holding moisture inside a solid polymer electrolyte membrane in a reactive gas inlet part on a periphery of a fuel electrode or an oxidant electrode of an assembly, thereby suppressing the deterioration of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane. <P>SOLUTION: The solid polymer electrolyte type fuel battery which uses a solid polymeric material having a hydrogen ion conductivity for an electrolyte comprises: a solid polymer electrolyte membrane 3; a fuel electrode 4 disposed on one face of the membrane 3; an oxidant electrode 5 disposed on the other face of the membrane 3; a fuel electrode-side separator 12 disposed on a face of the fuel electrode 4 opposite to the membrane 3; and an oxidant electrode-side separator 13 disposed on a face of the oxidant electrode 5 opposite to the membrane 3. Further, a coating layer 25 including a conductive material and a polymeric resin having a hydrophilic functional group is formed to cover at least a part of a gas passage of the fuel electrode-side separator 12 corresponding to a gas inlet part on a peripheral end part of the fuel electrode 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
