PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problems that generation of distance data higher than the resolution of a required in-plane direction or the distance resolution of a depth direction may increase processing time caused by generation of unnecessary data, and on the contrary, generation of distance data lower than the resolution of the required in-plane direction or the distance resolution of the depth direction may cause difficulty of maintaining accuracy of processing using the distance data.

SOLUTION: A distance image generation apparatus includes: a generation part for generating a first distance image of an object to be measured having the resolution of a predetermined in-plane direction or the distance resolution of a depth direction; an extraction part for extracting distance information from the first distance image generated by the generation part; and a determination part for determining, as a parameter, the resolution of an in-plane direction or the distance resolution of a depth direction of a second distance image further generated by the generation part based on the distance information extracted by the extraction part. The generation part further generates the second distance image by using the parameter determined by the determination part.
