<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a document pressing plate from rotating around a second rotation center against the intention of a user closing the document pressing plate. <P>SOLUTION: The image reader comprises: a hinge 105 having a first rotation shaft 203 for opening/closing a document pressing plate 104 and a second rotation shaft 204 for bringing the document pressing plate 104 into close contact with a document according to the thickness of the document; a stopper 207 able to be switched between a first position where the rotation of the document pressing plate 104 around the rotation shaft 204 is inhibited and a second position in which rotation inhibition is cancelled; a driving section 206 for opening/closing the document pressing plate 104; and an actuator 208 for switching the stopper 207. When the document pressing plate 104 is rotated by the driving section 206, a control section for controlling the driving section 206 and actuator 208 switches the stopper 207 by use of the actuator 208 to the first position, thereby inhibiting the operation of rotating the document pressing plate 104 around the rotation shaft 204. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
