<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector which can project so as to make video images look brighter while suppressing consumption of an electrode of a discharge lamp. <P>SOLUTION: A projector outputs a first video image and a second video image by alternately switching therebetween. A control unit 40 performs a first control and a second control on a discharge lamp drive part such that: in the first control and the second control, an absolute value of a driving current I becomes relatively small during a first period and relatively large during a second period; in the first control, the driving current I is supplied to a discharge lamp 90 so as to make energy given to a first electrode during the second period larger than energy given to a second electrode during the second period; and in the second control, the driving current I is supplied to the discharge lamp 90 so as to make energy given to the second electrode during the second period larger than energy given to the first electrode during the second period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
