<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for producing a high-carbon steel wire rod achieving reduced environmental load and having high strength and high ductility. <P>SOLUTION: The production method comprises: processing the high-carbon steel wire rod containing 0.65-1.0 mass% C by applying a processing strain ε of ≤1.5, thereby raising the steel wire temperature to a range of 200-450°C by heat generated by the processing; subsequently raising the steel wire temperature to a range of 800-950°C by continuously using a heating device; and subsequently processing the same by applying a processing strain ε of 0.5-2.0 within a temperature range of 600-750°C. After the processing treatment is performed within the temperature range of 600-750°C, the steel wire rod is cooled to 550°C, preferably at a cooling rate of ≤100°C/sec. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
