<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve identification accuracy of a target. <P>SOLUTION: An identification apparatus includes a selection section, a learning section, an input receiving section, a feature extraction section, a feature amount calculation section, a similarity calculation section, an identification section and an output control section. The selection section performs selection processing multiple times for selecting a plurality of groups each including one or more learning samples among a plurality of learning samples resulting from classifying each of the learning samples to any one of a plurality of categories. The learning section learns an identification criterion to identify the plurality of groups on a selected-multiple-groups unit basis and generates an evaluation criterion including a plurality of identification criteria. The input receiving section receives input of an image based on a radar echo from a target. The feature extraction section extracts a feature vector representing a feature of a contour shape of the target from the image. The feature amount calculation section calculates a feature amount of the feature vector using the evaluation criterion. The similarity calculation section calculates similarity between the feature amount and an identification feature amount. The identification section identifies the target using the similarity.
