<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve detection accuracy while preventing an arithmetic load from increasing. <P>SOLUTION: A crew member head detection device 10 includes: an internal coordinate setting part 52 which calculates an inverse vector of a fixed length in the inverse direction of a normal vector in a three-dimensional space for each of a plurality of pixels constituting a distance image outputted from a simple eye distance image sensor 11, and regards positional coordinates in the three-dimensional space specified by the inverse vector as internal coordinates; and a score image creating part 53 which calculates, for each of a plurality of unit spaces constituting the three-dimensional space, a score value related to the total number of the internal coordinates contained in the unit space, and creates a score image showing the score value of the unit space, in which the internal coordinates corresponding to each of the plurality of pixels is contained, in association with each of the plurality of pixels.
