A desulfurization system provided with: a fuel-supply unit that supplies a hydrocarbon fuel, which contains water and a sulfur compound, to the subsequent unit; and a desulfurization unit that uses a catalyst, which comprises silver supported by zeolite X, to desulfurize the hydrocarbon fuel supplied by the fuel-supply unit. Water constitutes 0.2% to 0.4% of the volume of the hydrocarbon fuel supplied by the fuel-supply unit.
