The invention relates to a monitoring apparatus for a soil-working machine, such as, in particular, a soil-scarifying machine, wherein this soil-working machine has at least one working device for mechanically working a soil surface (100) and/or for applying a soil top layer, comprising: at least one detection device (11a, 11b) for contact-free detection, at least in regions, of a condition (110) of the soil surface (100) and/or the soil top layer which is produced by the working device, and an evaluation device for automatically evaluating the condition which is detected by the detection device (11).
