A wholly aromatic liquid crystal polyester containing 2.0-15.0 mol% of hydroquinone-derived structural units relative to the total amount of structural units, the wholly aromatic liquid crystal polyester being characterized in that the amount of hydroxyl terminal groups (a) and the amount of acetyl terminal groups (b) constitutes a total of 50-350 eq/(g·10-6), and the total of the amount of hydroxyl terminal groups (a) and the amount of acetyl terminal groups (b), and the amount of carboxyl terminal groups (c) are in a ratio [(a) + (b)]/(c) of 1.05-2.00.
