<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 3-phase inverter device capable of efficiently converting an output voltage of a DC voltage source having a wide voltage fluctuation range to an AC voltage. <P>SOLUTION: The 3-phase inverter device includes capacitors 21 and 22 which divides, in serial manner, a voltage of DC power source 1, an inverter circuit 3 in which semiconductor switching elements Qu to Qz where diodes are connected in invert parallel manner are bridge-connected, and bi-directional switches Sux, Svy, and Swz connected between a connection point C of the capacitors 21 and 22 and AC output terminals U, V, and W of the inverter circuit 3. The voltage of DC power source 1 is lower than a predetermined value, the inverter circuit 3 is caused to operate as a normal 3-phase inverter. When the voltage of DC power source 1 is higher than the predetermined value, the inverter circuit 3 is caused to operate as a V-connection inverter.
