<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet processing device capable of corresponding to various sheet kinds, and improving productivity. <P>SOLUTION: A sheet processing device 100 comprises carrying means for carrying a sheet; and a control portion 501 for controlling the carrying means to stop the carrying of the sheet, hold the sheet in a stopping state during a predetermined stable time period at a position stopping the sheet, and reverse the carrying direction of the sheet after a lapse of the stable time period to carry the sheet in the opposite direction. The control portion 501 sets the stable time period on the basis of sheet information indicating the characteristics of the sheet.
