PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film with a uniform film thickness and surface properties by suppressing the deformation of a plastic film due to a foreign object or a scar present on the back surface of the plastic film in a solution cast method using the plastic film as a support film.

SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing the optical film in which a thermoplastic resin composition is filmed on the support film by the solution cast method, the optical film is achieved by the method for manufacturing the optical film using the support film where a resin composition is coated on the back surface of the support film and a relationship of relative roughness Ry measured based on JISB0601-1982 is that a cast surface is higher than a back surface.
