<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device for preventing or restraining a flicker during lighting a discharge lamp in a second lighting mode when the lamp is switched from a first lighting mode for supplying an alternating-current power of a rated power to the second lighting mode for supplying an alternating-current power lower than the rated power. <P>SOLUTION: The device comprises a discharge lamp and a power supply device. The power supply device has a function for lighting the discharge lamp by switching a first lighting mode for supplying the rated power to the discharge lamp and a second lighting mode for supplying the power lower than the rated power to the discharge lamp. In a mode switching period for switching the lamp from the first lighting mode to the second lighting mode, under a condition including a power change for reducing an arbitrary power value P1 not more than the supply power in the first lighting mode and not less than the supply power in the second lighting mode to a power value P2 lower than the power value P1, and increasing the power value P2 to a power value P3 higher than the power value P2 and lower than the power value P1, the power is controlled. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
