<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frame interpolation apparatus and method that generate an interpolation frame (Fh) with suppressed video blurring and suppressed judder, and realize smooth movement. <P>SOLUTION: A motion-compensating interpolation frame (Fc) generated on the basis of a motion vector (MV) found by a motion vector estimating unit (4) is corrected based on a boundary of the motion vector (MV). A position at which motion vectors (MV) of pixels adjacent to each other have a large difference equal to or greater than a predetermined value is used as the boundary between the motion vectors (MV), and pixel values of pixels in the motion-compensating interpolation frame (Fc) that are located in a field on which boundary pixels concentrate are corrected. Regarding each block of blocks, the block with the number of pixels on a motion vector boundary in the block equal to or greater than a predetermined ratio is determined to be a field on which the boundary pixels concentrate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
