920,997. Drafting apparatus. A. E. CISA. Nov. 18, 1960 [Aug. 9, 1960], No. 39795/60. Class 120 (2). The fibres are gripped in drafting-mechanism by forming the rollers of each pair with interengaging teeth or corrugations; one of the rollers is of hard material and the other resilient and the width of the teeth of one roller is greater than the distance between adjacent teeth of the other. The teeth on the rollers may be longitudinally or helicoidally arranged and may be of square or other cross-section. The positions of the lower rollers are adjustable on a stand 1; the upper rollers are carried by an arm 11 pivoted at 10 to a member 8, the position of which can be adjusted on a shaft 7 by a screw 9, the member 8 and the cap bar being locked together by the engagement in a slot 13 of a latch 12 rotatable by a handle 14. The positions of the top rollers along the bar 11 may be adjusted by suitably positioning bolts 16 along a slot 15 and the interengagement of the teeth and grooves in the rollers may be varied by arrangements as shown on the case of the top rollers only, where the bearings are slidable in guides 17 by rotating screws 20.
|
