<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sea-island composite fiber composed of a sea-island component having a modified cross-section and a super thin fineness, the sea-island component having a uniform modified cross-section degree and a uniform circumscribed circle diameter. <P>SOLUTION: The sea-island composite fiber includes a readily soluble polymer as a sea component, and a sparingly soluble polymer as an island component, in which a circumscribed circle diameter of the island component is in a range of 10-1000 nm, and a variation of the circumscribed circle diameter is 1-20%, and a modified cross-section degree is 1.2-5.0, and a variation of the modified cross-section degree is 1-10%.
