<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pit access device for an elevator for easily providing a pit accessible state without using many components, complicating the structure, and requiring much processing for installation. <P>SOLUTION: This pit access device 1 for the elevator includes a scaffold means arranged in a floated state from a pit bottom face 3. The scaffold means includes a support member 5 and a long member 7 extending right and left. The support member is fixed in a state floated from the pit bottom face via a sidewall 9 of a hoistway. The long member forms a tread, and the whole long member is supported by the support member in a state separated from a landing-side sidewall 9a of the hoistway.
