<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new charger capable of reducing contract power as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: A charger 1 which, based on contract power, receives power from a commercial power source and charges a battery 21 by using the power comprises: a supply unit 11 which can supply a current to the battery 21 when charging the battery 21; a detection unit 12 which detects a supply current value of the current supplied to the battery 21; a measurement unit 13 which, when the detected supply current value exceeds a rating current value according to the contract power, measures a time during which the excess goes on; an interruption unit 14 which, when the measured time reaches a specified time set based on the magnitude of the rating current value and the supply current value, interrupts the current supplied to the battery 21. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
