PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide stem cells suitable for transplantation and methods for their preparation.

SOLUTION: The group includes introducing genes encoding CXCR4 and is constituted by isolating human umbilical blood or bone marrow stem cells. The stem cells is resistant to the desensitization by high concentration SDF-1 compared to stem cells without the introducing genes encoding the CXCR-4 and the group constituted by isolating the stem cells exhibiting improved CXCR4 signal transmitting ability responding to low concentration and/or high concentration SDF-1.
