<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device in which no brightness change occurs in a screen when modes are automatically switched. <P>SOLUTION: The display device having a plurality of modes comprises: view environment detection means for detecting an ambient brightness and switching the modes in accordance with the detected ambient brightness; screen brightness calculation means for calculating the brightness of the display screen at each mode based on the average brightness of image data of one frame; and a screen brightness synthesis means, when the mode is to be switched, for gradually varying a brightness of the display screen from a brightness of the display screen before the switching is changed to a brightness of the display screen after the mode is changed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
