<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set the quantity of illumination light and the volume of voice guidance in an electronic settlement apparatus without being affected by disturbance. <P>SOLUTION: Control means 10 stores in storage means 12 volume data detected by volume detection means 21 and light quantity data detected by light quantity detection means 22 for a predetermined period of time (e.g., 24 hours or one week) and calculates an average value of each of detection data items per hour. Install location discrimination means 11 discriminates an install location of an electronic settlement apparatus 100 by collating maximum values of the volume data and the light quantity data within the predetermined period of time with an install location table stored in the storage means 12. On the basis of the discriminated install location, the control means 10 automatically sets an output voice of voice output means 31 and output luminance of illumination control means 32.
