<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a setting method and a manufacturing method of an electric power steering device, for properly correcting an assist force in response to a variation in characteristics for each product and gradually reducing steering resistance as operation of a steering mechanism is repeated. <P>SOLUTION: The electric power steering device includes an assist torque correcting means for correcting assist torque based on assist torque correction characteristics (an assist torque correction map) set in advance in accordance with a steering quantity integral value. The setting method of the electric power steering device includes: an initial steering resistance measuring process P2 for measuring steering resistance R1 of the steering mechanism by actuating the steering mechanism before being installed in a vehicle after manufacturing the electric power steering device; and an assist torque correction characteristic setting process P8 for setting assist torque correction characteristics based on the measured steering resistance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
