<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool setter and method for aligning a cutting edge of a tool, which enables the cutting edge of the tool to be highly precisely aligned with a reference point being an intersection point between an axial line of a spindle and an axial line in an orthogonal tool cutting direction, while the tool is arranged on a tool rest. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging camera 30 is detachably held on a collet chuck 16 equipped in a spindle 14 of a headstock moving type automatic lathe, via a holder 32. The cutting edge 22a of a cutting tool 22 is imaged with the imaging camera 30 through a guide hole 1802 of a guide bush 18, and the imaged cutting edge image of the cutting tool 22 is enlarged and displayed on a monitor 38, and an X-Y coordinate is also displayed on the monitor 38. While the display screen of the monitor 38 is being watched, the cutting edge 22a of the cutting tool 22 is aligned with the reference point P of the X-Y coordinate 50. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
