The invention relates to a slide fastener (1, 101) with a separable retainer, wherein the fastener element chains (4) of a left and right, first and second fastener tapes (2a, 2b) are inserted through a slider (30). The slide fastener is provided with a separable retainer (5, 105) having: an inserted member (10, 110) provided on the first fastener tape (2a); and a socket member (20, 120) provided on the second fastener tape (2b), which rotatably supports the inserted member (10, 110). The socket member (20, 120) has an insertion-receiving part (23, 123) capable, when the inserted member (10, 110) is inserted from the side of the socket member, of holding the inserted member so as to allow pivoting, and also of rotatably supporting the inserted member (10, 110) when inserted via the element guiding path of the slider (30). The ends of the first and second fastener tapes (2a, 2b) to the side of the separable retainer have notches (16, 116) that are cut out along two or more straight lines and have one or more bends. Providing said notches diffuses tearing forces when strong tearing forces act on the left and right fastener tape ends to the side of the separable retainer attachment to peel the ends off; friction does not occur between the separable retainer and the thin reinforcing pieces bonded to the ends of the fastener tapes; and detachment does not occur.
