920,744. Feeding sheets. UNIVERSAL CORRUGATED BOX MACHINERY CORPORATION. June 23, 1959 [July 1, 1958], No. 46519/61. Divided out of 920,745. Class 100 (1). A device for feeding the lowermost blank from a stack S of blanks comprises a perforated conveyer belt 35 on which the lowermost blank is held by suction and guide means 68<SP>1</SP> at the outlet end of the conveyer beneath which only one blank at a time can pass. The belt is carried by rollers 32, 33 and idler rollers 36, suction being maintained in a chamber 37 and a duct 38 by a suction unit 39 (Fig. 2). The guide means 68<SP>1</SP> comprises a plurality of blocks 69 adjustably positioned along a rod 67 extending above and transversely of the belt. A screw 84 permits adjustment of the gap between the lower end of the guide and the belt. The right-hand ends of the blanks are held by adjustable supports 52 spaced transversely of the belt along a shaft 47. Rotation of a hand wheel on the shaft 47 causes the supports to move longitudinally of the belt by means of pinions 46 engaging a rack 41. Each support comprises a number of rollers 63 mounted on shafts 62. The supports 52 at each end of the shaft 47 have guide cheeks to engage the outer faces of the stack and in the case of long blanks a central support 52 carries a fin which engages a slot in, and so aligns, the blanks. |
