<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for performing mirror surface finishing on a painted surface with a deep scratch by one polishing process, facilitating operation of a polisher as a polishing tool, and preventing temperature rise on the painted surface during polishing. <P>SOLUTION: A double-action polisher uses an abrasive material which is easily crushed by a polishing force of the polisher into fine particles and contains polishing abrasive grains having Mohs hardness of 2 to 6 and is formed by pasting a wool buff made by implanting a mass of wools of 10 to 30 cm long in a disc-like board or a hairline shape implanted buff made by implanting a mass of polyester hairline shapes of 10 to 30 cm long in a disc-like board, on a buff pasting base.
