<p>The present invention provides a control apparatus that satisfies demands for exhaust gas performance, fuel efficiency performance, and operation performance of an internal combustion engine in a balanced manner by appropriately adjusting a rate of change of a required air-fuel ratio and ignition timing. When a predetermined permission condition is not satisfied, the control apparatus keeps the ignition timing at an optimum ignition timing. When the permission condition is satisfied, the control apparatus compensates for a difference between a torque estimated from an operation of an air amount control actuator and a required torque through ignition timing. When a predetermined relaxation condition is not satisfied, an original required air-fuel ratio is determined as a final required air-fuel ratio as is. When the relaxation condition is satisfied, the required air-fuel ratio with a relaxed rate of change is determined as the final required air-fuel ratio. The permission condition includes a change of the required air-fuel ratio in a rich direction and the amount of the change being greater than a predetermined determination reference value. The relaxation condition includes the amount of change of the required air-fuel ratio being greater than the determination reference value and the permission condition not being satisfied.</p> |
