<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for power allocation to subcarriers which improve the signal-to-interference and signal-to-noise ratios in an orthogonal frequency division multiple transmission system. <P>SOLUTION: At a step 302, N received OFDM subcarriers allocated to a user are sorted in descending order of their channel quality.
