<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide in which adhesion between a core layer and a cladding layer is improved without spoiling optical transmission performances. <P>SOLUTION: An optical waveguide 1 comprises: a core layer 2 including a core part 21 and a cladding part 22 having a lower refractive index than the core part 21; two cladding layers 3 and 4 disposed to sandwich the core layer 2; and a thin film layer 5 with a thickness of 1 to 100 nm between the core layer 2 and at least one of the cladding layers 3 and 4. The thin film layer 5 is preferably made of a material having a higher refractive index than the core part 21. The thin film layer 5 may improve adhesion between the core layer 2 and the cladding layers 3 and 4 so as to prevent these layers from peeling off from one another. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
