<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove deposits without complicating a device configuration. <P>SOLUTION: In the glass melting furnace 1 in which a treatment of making a high level radioactive waste liquid 6 into molten glass 10 together with a glass raw material 8 is performed in a melting furnace body 3, a tellurium feeding material 16 containing tellurium is fed into the melting furnace body 3 in a state where platinum group element-containing deposits 15 are deposited at the furnace bottom part. Pd in the deposits 15 is made to react with Te in the fed tellurium feeding material 16 to form a Pd-Te alloy or a solid solution of Pd and Te having a melting point lower than the normal operation temperature of the glass melting furnace 1, these compounds are melted at the normal operation temperature of the glass melting furnace 1 and are separated from the deposits 15 to reduce the viscosity of the deposits 15, thus the deposits are discharged together with the molten glass, when discharging the molten glass 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
