<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet carrying device capable of surely carrying sheets one by one while preventing overlapped feeding even in the case of detecting idle feeding of sheets, and to provide an image reader. <P>SOLUTION: A first carrier roller 17 is rotationally driven to carry the sheet P. In the case of detecting the tip of the sheet P by a second sheet sensor 35, a CPU 121 releases the driving force of the first carrier roller 17 through a first transmission switching part 83 and transmits the driving force to a second carrier roller 18 through a second transmission switching part 85 to carry the sheet P. The CPU 121, in the case of determining that the sheet P is not detected by a third sheet sensor 47 within a time T1 after releasing the driving force to the first carrier roller 17 through the first transmission switching part 83, transmits again the driving force to the first carrier roller 17 through the first transmission switching part 83 and transmits the driving force to the second carrier roller 18 through the second transmission switching part 85. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
