BISTABLE CHIRAL SPLAY NEMATIC MODE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PURPOSE: A BCSN mode liquid crystal display device is provided to use black states of the same images which are made in two modes, thereby enhancing black features. CONSTITUTION: A first electrode(166) is formed on the inner side of a first substrate(101). A second electrode(173) and a third electrode(175) are separated each other on the inner side of a first insulating layer(270). A fourth electrode(266) is formed on the inner side of a second substrate(201). A fifth electrode(273) and a sixth electrode are separated each other on the inner side of a second insulating layer. A BCSN(Bistable Chiral Splay Nematic) liquid crystal layer(190) is placed between the first substrate and the second substrate. A BCSN mode liquid crystal display device(100) has a memory driving mode and a dynamic driving mode. The device expresses splay difference black in the memory driving mode and the dynamic driving mode.
